Dear Friends

Reading International Festival 2007
Friday 12th – Wednesday 31st October 2007

Reading International Festival planning is beginning. The Festival aims to highlight, promote & celebrate international activities, links and solidarity in Reading. This year we particularly commemorate 200 centenary of the Abolition of Slavery and some groups are involved in the production of an exhibition entitled: Reading Links – Abolition of Slavery.
As well as all the other human rights and environmental issues we, encourage groups to organise events on this theme.

Black History Month celebrates Reading’s active and rich diverse community life with an emphasis on slavery issues as well. One World Week is also included with the theme of ‘All Together Now’.
If your organisation is planning an event, theatre, workshop, feast, celebration, music, talk or film with an international dimension during this time, why not get it included FREE in this year's Festival Leaflet. It helps spread the word to other groups, because all participating groups help distributing the 12,000 leaflets to their own networks and throughout the town.

This year the deadline will be August 30th with a Joint meeting on Wednesday 5th September 7.30pm 2007 It will help us enormously if you fill in your forms a.s.a.p. even if there are some details missing. It helps us to get a better picture of what is likely to happen and thus avoid clashes of similar events.

If you would like to check out how dates are being booked or talk about an event, please don't hesitate to contact me. Good luck with all your events.

Best Wishes
